Apple releases a new iPhone every year, but the iPhone Pro models keep getting more refined with better performance, camera, and design. Well, let’s dive right in and line up the iPhone 16 pro, iPhone 15 pro, iPhone 14 pro and see how these three stack up against one another.
Design and Display
iPhone 16 Pro: The iPhone 16 Pro features a slightly larger screen, boasting a full edge-to-edge OLED panel of 6.3 inches. Apple even pushed the bezels away, so there is practically no bezel. The new titanium frame makes the phone extraordinarily sturdy and lighter than any other phone, and the screen has an anti-glare feature that is easy to read in bright light.
iPhone 15 Pro: The iPhone 15 Pro is the first iPhone with a titanium body, unlike the stainless steel in the iPhone 14 Pro. It maintains a 6.1-inch OLED display featuring ProMotion technology, enabling adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz for smooth scrolling and animations. Apple also did an excellent job removing the old mute switch and replacing it with the Action button, which is programmable.
iPhone 14 Pro: Apple came out with this thing on the iPhone 14 Pro called the Dynamic Island. It’s this pill-shaped thing where the front camera and sensors are, showing notifications and live updates. The 6.1-inch display supports ProMotion and HDR10, making it vibrant and responsive, but it lacks the newer titanium frame introduced with the 15 Pro and 16 Pro models.
Winner: The iPhone 16 Pro will have a bigger screen and a more defined titanium body, which will be more immersive and premium.
Camera Capabilities
iPhone 16 Pro: We’re now at the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple finally released this new periscope zoom lens, and now they can do 6x optical zoom. It has a 48mp primary sensor and takes MUCH better pictures in low light, and the ultra wide angle lens has some minor refinements so that the pictures come out somewhat sharper. It’s a camera system for the photographer who insists on having photographs as sharp as possible, even shooting from a mile away.
iPhone 15 Pro: Even the iPhone 15 Pro, with a 48mp primary camera sensor and better image processing, doesn’t have a periscope zoom like the iPhone 16 Pro. It has up to 3x optical zoom, which is pretty good for general use but for those who wish to zoom more than that without losing quality is shit.
iPhone 14 Pro: 14 Pro, that’s when the 48MP sensor was a leap back then. But it doesn’t have that nice zoom like the 15pro or 16pro has. It has a decent camera- decent for overall use but could be better than some of its descendants- with zoom capability and the ability to take low-light pictures.
Winner: iPhone 16 Pro, with my delicious periscope zoom and vastly improved low-light capabilities.
Performance and Processor
iPhone 16 Pro: iPhone 16 Pro has an Apple A18 Pro chip, so there are some excellent performance and efficiency upgrades there. This processor takes better processor takes care of graphics and is also suitable for gaming and AR. The A18 chip uses a 3nm process to ensure the most battery efficiency possible, meaning a long time without running out of power and compromising performance.
iPhone 15 Pro: The A17 Pro chip, the first iPhone to be fabricated on 3nm, made the iPhone 15 Pro faster and gave it much more battery life. It has an A17 chip in it, which does some heavy-duty AI and machine learning; it is a monster in multi-tasking and high-performance applications.
iPhone 14 Pro: The iPhone 14 Pro has the A16 bionic, which is still a beast, but it is a generation behind the 3nm chips in the 15 Pro and 16 Pro. It works well in general stuff and games, but it doesn’t have the speed or graphic punch of the newer ones.
Winner: iPhone 16 Pro This is the most powerful chip ever on a mobile device.
Battery Life
iPhone 16 Pro: The iPhone 16 Pro with an A18 Pro chip and slightly larger battery yields approximately 10% better battery life than the 15 Pro, enough to make it through the most hectic days. It also charges faster with the USB-C, so more power can be recovered quickly.
iPhone 15 Pro: A17 pro chip, not deficient in the battery life department, but not as good as the iPhone 16 pro. The USB-C is a great idea. Not only does it charge faster, but it is also a lot easier to connect to other devices and accessories.
iPhone 14 Pro: Ok, at least it has the a16 bionic in it; the iPhone 14 Pro has decent battery life, not iPhone 15 Pro or 16 Pro level, but. And it doesn’t even have the new USB-C; it still has the old lightning port, so it also takes forever to charge.
Winner: iPhone 16 Pro, better battery life, USB-C fast charging.
Software and Additional Features
iPhone 16 Pro: The iPhone 16 pro, iOS 18, has some new AI, a customizable lock screen, and, lastly, real interactive widgets. Even the action key can be programmed for user-defined functions like launching the camera, turning on the flashlight, or quickly launching shortcuts.
iPhone 15 Pro: Being iOS 18, the 15 Pro has the new UI. However, an action button has less customization than an iPhone 16 pro, so it is not even close to as much user customization.
iPhone 14 Pro: IOS 17 and the iPhone 14 pro have all the “major” and whatnot, but not all that crazy customization and AI nonsense that the 15pro and 16pro have. It isn’t an excellent piece of hardware for everyday use, but many of the “new” features are either watered down or aren’t there, period.
Winner: iPhone 16 pro with HELL lots more freedom and customization.
Price and Value
All three iPhone Pros are great, but each one is worth it to different people depending on their spending and what they are looking for.
iPhone 16 Pro: And for upgraders, it’s fantastic. The zoom is much better, and the processing speed is much faster.
iPhone 15 Pro: Great for those who don’t mind not having some of the newer additions but have good power and extras.
iPhone 14 Pro: Something in between that, something cheaper for those who desire lots of power but not all the newest upgrades.
Final Verdict
Best Overall: For the user who wants it all, the iPhone 16 pro has the best camera options, the most extended battery life, and the a18 chip.
Best Value: The iPhone 15 Pro is a good compromise, though, cause it has practically all the new stuff, but it’s so much cheaper than the iPhone 16 Pro.
Most Affordable Premium Choice: The iPhone 14 Pro is still a beast of a phone for the guy who wants a flagship iPhone but not a flagship price.
